BIOGRAPHY

Marco Galmacci, known as Morcky, is an Italian artist based in Barcelona. Raised in the graffiti world and educated in mathematics, his work has expanded to explore illustration and animation, defining an artistic path where his passion for line work and dynamics interwinds with the attention for emotional intimacy and evocative compositions.

Morcky has exhibited his work in museums, walls, festivals and galleries in more than 15 countries all over the world and is one of the directors of the Savants project, a collective dedicated to animation and creative outputs.

ARTIST STATEMENT

During my career I have explored many aspects of figurative art, dedicating special interest to the construction of letters, the study of architecture and portrait techniques.

Today I am elaborating these aspects in a unique language in which the composition plays a fundamental role in balancing these three themes and creates a dreamlike and emotional narrative.

Through a quick and instinctive line, I seek a primitive expressiveness, linked to imperfection, error and intuition. In contrast, the complexity of my visual compositions serves to create an emotional roller coaster that finds its balance in the alternation between the silence of the empty spaces and the noise of the full ones.
In my practice I see each medium for a different aim: muralism has always been the red thread of my production, where everything began and where everything returns, paper is the moment of reflection and inner research, canvas is where I generate more elaborate ideas with delicacy and attention to detail.

My work of two decades in the world of animation translates into my images as dynamics and as movements frozen in time.

Surrealismo vibrante y cultura del color

Drawing inspiration from early ’80s skateboard and surf culture, as well as punk rock and hardcore subcultures, Marcos creates bold, chaotic worlds where zombies, grotesque creatures, and screaming demons spewing skulls are the norm. His illustrations are brought to life through a highly saturated and vibrant color palette, adding even more intensity to the madness.

Feminidad, naturaleza y plasticidad orgánica
